We had a lovely morning at St Luke’s on Saturday 19 July when the Mayor of Greenwich, Cllr Linda Bird, came to cut the ribbon to officially mark that St Luke’s has a Public Access Defibrillator (PAD).

After Revd Liz shared some information about the vital role defibrillators can play in increasing survival rates among people suffering out of–hospital cardiac arrests, we heard from local resident Rob Keeling, whose wife used our defibrillator to save the life of a marathon runner who collapsed outside St Luke’s back in April.

The Mayor thanked our lovely neighbour Carol, who gifted the PAD to our community, and commended this as a wonderful example of church and community coming together to the benefit of all.

We rounded the morning off with tea and cake provided by our refreshment team!

May this defibrillator and the one at St Thomas continue to be a blessing to our community, and to save that most precious gift of life which we treasure in ourselves, in the ones we love and in the ones we’re called to care about.
