About Us

The Church of St Martin serves the village of Sandford St Martin and hamlet of Ledwell, and is part of the Benefice of Westcote Barton with Steeple Barton, Duns Tew and Sandford St Martin, and Over with Nether Worton, known as the Barton Benefice.

Interesting features of this 13th century church include the John Piper lancet window (showing St Martin dividing his cloak to share with a poor beggar), the Norman font, several fine hatchments, and at the back of the chancel arch, a panel displaying the Royal Arms of Queen Elizabeth I dated 1602 - that is, before the uniting of the Kingdoms of England and Scotland.

There are several services each Sunday in the Benefice – to find out what services are held when and where, please see our website.

The website also has details about our clergy, bell ringers, choir and special events.
