St Mary the Virgin serves the villages of Steeple Barton and Middle Barton, and is part of the Benefice of Westcote Barton with Steeple Barton, Duns Tew and Sandford St Martin, and Over with Nether Worton, known as the Barton Benefice. It is the largest of our six churches.
It is set in beautiful and peaceful surroundings overlooking Barton Abbey. Inside the church are 14th century pillars with carved heads, and one has the unusual North Oxfordshire feature of linked arms.
There are several services each Sunday in the Benefice – to find out what services are held when and where, please see our website.
The website also has details about our clergy, bell ringers, choir and special events.
