The Church.

We have services every Sunday.

On the first Sunday in the month we have a 10-00am communion

On the second Sunday we have a 10-00am Morning worship with coffee

On the third Sunday we have a18-00pm Evening Service

On the forth Sunday we have a 10:00am Café Church

On the fifth Sunday we have a joint service with either St Lawrence, St Nicholas (Tillingham) or St James (Dengie).

We provide coffee and biscuits after all morning services, all welcome to stay.

We also hold mid-week communion at St Peters Chapel on the last Thursday in the month at 9am and a Morning Prayer service in St Thomas' at 9:00am on Friday mornings.

During July and August a 6pm Evening Service is held at St Peters Chapel, those attending are able to drive to the chapel.


The parish is proud to support our Church school (St Cedds School) that has very close links to our church community. The school regularly use the church facilities for services and meetings.

We have an active and enthusiastic team of Bell ringers who practice each Friday at 8pm, and ring for all Sunday services.

There is a Thursday Group which is a social group open to all in the parish who wish to meet and chat or have meals together. The group either meet in the church or go for a meal on the first Thursday in the month..

We have an excellent group of flower arrangers who arrange flowers in the church each week and at all the church festivals. We also have beautiful Flower Festivals on special occasions.

St Thomas Church also support and maintain St Peters Chapel which we have the use of on Sundays and Church Festivals.

Baptism:

Everyone is welcome to be, or have their children christened in their parish church. There are around 10,000 people, children and babies baptised in the Church of England every month.

If you are interested in Baptism for yourself, your children or your family do ask the Rector Steven or the Churchwardens David or Theresa.

Weddings:

Traditionally marriages in England take place before God in the setting of a Church of England church. You're welcome to marry in church whatever your denomination whether or not you are baptised and whether or not you go to church.

Confirmation:

Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you confirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptised into and your intention to live your life in. The Confirmation service is based on prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming bishop. The Church asks God to give you power through the Holy Spirit to enable you to live in the way of Jesus.

Funerals:

A funeral marks the close of a human life on earth. It is the opportunity for friends and family to express their grief, to give thanks for the life which has now completed its journey in this world.

In the case of a death of a loved one you may wish to contact the Rector Steven or the Churchwardens David or Theresa. Our church has a cemetery that is open for burials and the interment of ashes for all residence of the parish.

History:

The Church of St Thomas Bradwell-on-Sea dates back to the 14th Century.  The nave was rebuilt in 1706 and the tower in 1743. We are a happy friendly church offering a warm welcome to all
