This ancient chapel built in 654 AD by St Cedd, missionary of Essex, is a cradle of Christianity in the British Isles. Its peaceful and beautiful setting makes it an ideal place for individuals or groups to come to pray and be still.
In July the Chapel has been the focus of an annual pilgrimage for many years and it is always open to pilgrims and visitors. On Thursdays we celebrate with a simple communion service and during the summer there is a series of evening services which are attended by worshippers from many different races and denominations. Quiet Days are also arranged throughout the year and the Chapel is used regularly by members of the Othona Community.
You are always welcome to visit the Chapel; the door is always open and never locked.
