Funerals

Funerals at St Peter ad Vincula, Coggeshall

Remembering a life, giving thanks for love, and finding hope in the midst of loss.

Losing someone we love is one of life's most difficult experiences. Whether their death was expected or came suddenly, the days that follow can feel overwhelming, with so much to think about at a time when even the simplest decisions can seem difficult.

At St Peter ad Vincula, we are here to offer kindness, compassion and support as you navigate this difficult time.

A farewell that is personal and meaningful

Every life is unique, and we believe every funeral should reflect the person whose life we are remembering.

Our clergy will work closely with you and your funeral director to create a service that feels right for your loved one and your family. There is space for memories, music, readings, tears and even laughter, because remembering someone we love often involves all of these things.

A Christian funeral gives us an opportunity to celebrate a life, acknowledge the pain of parting, and find comfort in the hope that death does not have the final word.

At the heart of our faith is the belief that nothing, not even death, can separate us from the love of God.

How we can help

Our clergy are available to conduct funeral services in church, at a crematorium or at the graveside.

Your funeral director will usually make the initial arrangements and contact us on your behalf. We will then spend time with you, listening to your stories, learning about the person you have lost, and helping you plan a farewell that honours their life.

You do not need to be a regular churchgoer to ask us about a funeral. Whether faith has been central to your family's life or you are simply looking for a place of peace, dignity and comfort, you are welcome to get in touch.

You are not alone

Grief doesn't follow a timetable, and it certainly doesn't end when the funeral is over.

We hope that, through the service and the care we offer, you will know that you are not alone, that your loved one's life matters, and that love remains even in the face of loss.
