CURIOUS? Have you ever wondered what makes our Church tick? how the anti-social behaviour in our churchyard last year was resolved? why 3 trees on the western boundary were felled last year? where the collection money goes? what our Guides and Brownies get up to? WELL, WHY NOT COME TO THE ANNUAL MEETINGS, held in church after the morning service on 18th May (at about 12:15pm), and find out the answers? Everyone is welcome to come and hear what we’ve been doing throughout the year, although only people on our Electoral Roll are allowed to vote on any proposals. COULD THIS BE YOU?You may not normally attend church but would you (or indeed any of your friends) be sad if St. James had to shut? As the number of regular attendees dwindles we sometimes wonder how we can fulfil our obligations as a charity and who we can ask for help when something goes wrong. Perhaps you, or someone you know, would like to help us continue to thrive.• Do you have secretarial skills? The PCC secretary would welcome someone to be the minutes secretary.• Do you have a head for numbers? The treasurer would welcome an assistant.• Are you handy with a hammer, screwdriver, paintbrush etc and could help when needed?• Are you fit and able to help out with moving tables, erecting marquees for fundraising events? • Do you have IT skills and would enjoy enhancing our website or giving us a presence on social media?• Could you help us publicise/advertise events in other ways?• Do you have ideas for fundraising? • Are you a keen environmentalist? We need an eco-link person to ensure good communication between us and the deanery environmental team, with the aim of helping us safeguard God’s creation through green initiatives.• Perhaps you have other talents you could offer?IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL TO BE A CHURCH-GOER TO DO ANY OF THESE JOBS, just a love for this beautiful old building and a desire to see it thrive, so if you feel you can help, or for further information, please contact Una [churchwarden] 01702 556600 or Claire [secretary] 01268 757557or Rev.
