Holy Communion on Maundy Thursday

Occurring

Venue
Hadleigh: St James the Less
Address
High Street Hadleigh Southend, SS7 2PA, United Kingdom

A Holy Communion service to remember the Last Supper that Jesus shared with his friends, when he took bread and wine, blessed them, and gave them to his disciples. He urged them to continue to do this after his death in remembrance of him — and Christians have done so ever since whenever we gather for Holy Communion.

After the service there will be an optional two-hour time of quiet reflection, inspired by the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed on the night before the cross. This will be a gentle, prayerful space to sit, reflect, and be with God — you are welcome to come and go as you please. The hope is to offer a simple place of stillness in the busyness of Holy Week.

Hadleigh Christians meet together for a brief, ecumenical Sunrise Service at Hadleigh Castle at 6:10am on Sunday 5th April, with churches from across Hadleigh, and music led by the Salvation Army.
