Getting here

St George's was purchased by the Bentalls family, in memory of their son who died in the First World War. The wooden building came from Goldhanger Airfield when it was closed, and was moved to its present site in 1920. A recently discovered piece of the original timber proves that it was the Sergeant's mess. It has always been available for community use by the village, and with its special atmosphere is a treasured place.
