About the Charity

The Richard Cannon Charity is a historic trust, using the income from some land left as a bequest to help people in need in Rettendon. The Trust is run by a group of Trustees who are local people with an interest in the local community. Although the income is small, we can often help with small grants to cover short-term needs to households in the village.

The suggestions above are only some of the ways in which we can help. Please contact us if you have a short-term financial difficulty. The Trustees will consider each application on its merits. All grants are made and considered in strict confidence.

We cannot usually make more than one grant to any household in the course of the year, but in exceptional circumstances we may be able to give additional help. We are not able to make on-going payments or pensions, but again please ask if you are in need. We specially want to help single parents, pensioners, the jobless, recently bereaved people, and those receiving benefits or on low incomes.

There are no forms to fill in, but we will ask for a short written statement of your needs and your situation to comply with Charity regulations, and a receipt for the money paid.
