Welcome to Green Park St James 'the church in the trees' on the edge of Maghull. Please come and join us at any of our services and events. There are more details and photos on our Facebook page (see the link below left or search for: St James, Maghull).
St. James Church is one of the 4 churches that are part of the Maghull and Melling Team and is adjacent to Green Park and St. John Bosco schools on Green Lane Maghull. We are a friendly informal church and all are very welcome, young and not so young. We love singing praises to God and have opportunities for people to ask for prayer for healing for themselves or a loved one.
St James was awarded a Child Friendly award some time ago and we are working to update it. The Child Friendly Church Award Scheme was created to help churches consider how they "welcome and integrate children and their families into the worshipping life of their church". We would love to see more children and young people in our congregation.
St James has also been awarded an Eco-Congregation award. Eco-congregation aims to encourage churches to celebrate the gift of God's creation and to care for it in their life and mission and through members' personal lifestyles. We have a memorial garden where ashes can be scattered and our setting among trees, on the edge of fields, close to the Cheshire Lines Path and the Leeds Liverpool Canal is peaceful and worth a visit.
The church also has an active social programme. We aim to suit all and we are open to ideas so come and join us! Our hall can also be hired at a very reasonable cost. The hall is on the same site but in a separate building to the church and has its own kitchen and toilets. It can be hired for £13 an hour for one-off events such as children's parties as well as regular events such as U3A meetings, dance classes and rehearsals. There are reduced rates for block bookings: e.g. 4 x 1 hour booking £48; 8 x 1 hour booking £95. It may also be possible to hire the church for some events. Please contact Harry on 0151 531 7634 for further details.
