Caring for God's Creation

As a Silver Award EcoChurch, the eco group encourages ways that St Luke's can care for God's creation.

As we start a new year and decade, we are encouraging all our congregation to look at their carbon footprint and see how we can reduce and offset the carbon we use in our everyday lives. Please download the document at the foot of this page and commit to a carbon reduction new year resolution.

EcoChurch is a national environmental programme for churches managed by A Rocha UK. It builds on our existing environmental concerns & Christian perspectives and aims to encourage us as members of the church to CELEBRATE the gift of creation and CARE for it in appropriate practical and spiritual ways. We realise that St Luke’s is already actively involved in many ways - care for our church grounds (Breathing Places), buy Fairtrade goods, use of low energy lamps and loo hippos, recycling of printer cartridges to name but a few - and on those things we need to build.

The aim of the Eco group is to encourage members of the church to CELEBRATE the gift of creation and CARE for it in appropriate practical and spiritual ways. The church has achieved its second national award and are constantly striving to improve the impact we have on the climate.
