Join us for our annual, national celebration of Britain's first saint, with our colourful city centre procession and pilgrimage worship and events.

Pilgrimage Preacher: The Right Revd Dr Guli Francis-Dehqani, Bishop of Chelmsford

The Pilgrimage starts with a colourful procession through the city, with giant puppets and plenty of costumes to help us tell the story of Alban. He receives judgment from the magistrate outside St Albans Museum, before we tell the story of his martyrdom outside the West End of the Cathedral. We gather at St Peter’s Church at 10.45am.

We then move into the Cathedral for Pilgrimage Eucharist at 12pm with some great Alban hymns! Children’s worship and activities take place at the same time.

Pilgrimage Day celebrations continue on the Cathedral Orchard with refreshments until 5pm.

The day ends with Pilgrimage Evensong at 4pm, at the end of which we process to the Shrine of Alban and lay roses.
