Wedding Information

Welcome-

We are delighted that you are planning to get married in St Mary’s Church. We hope that this leaflet will give you most if not all of the information you need. If there is anything you are unsure of please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Bookings-

All bookings for marriages should be made with our Wedding Co-ordinator, Mrs Kath Randell, Tel 01525 862600 or email address [email protected]

Kath will be able to tell you if the date and time you would like are available. If having made a booking you find you need to alter the date and/or the time; please contact Kath as soon as possible.

You will need to pay a non-refundable deposit of £100, at the time of making a definite booking, to secure the requested date and time. Cheques should be made payable to St. Mary’s PCC.

Preparation-

Although it may seem an obvious thing to mention; a marriage in church is significantly different from a civil ceremony conducted by a registrar. A wedding in church takes place in the context of a service of prayer and thanksgiving. Marriage vows, which you will make before God and his people, are made with the clear intention that they are for life, so the priest conducting your service will need to meet with you before the wedding, for an informal chat about the service and to discuss what it means to you both.

The Legal Preliminaries-

Banns are usually called on the first three Sundays of the month preceding your wedding. If one or both of you live in another parish it will be necessary to call the banns there too; it is your responsibility to make arrangements with that parish and to obtain a certificate after they have been called.
