Weekly prayer topics

Last Updated: 13th July 2025

Here we suggest focus areas for prayer, but please continue to pray for the work of our churches and missionary partners around the world (at www.achurchnearyou.com/church/7825/page/77358/view).

Church family news:

- Some of the ladies from our Bible group, M&Ms, will be attending a Quiet Day entitled ‘Songs in the Key of Life’ at St Mary’s Hertingfordbury this Wednesday. This Spirituality day explores the link between contemporary song writers and the psalmists, both of whom express truths about life and our experiences of it. Please pray for them and for all who will attend.

- Please pray for all who are grieving, particularly for the family and friends of Bryan Algar and Chris Smith, and for Basma and her family as the grieve for Georgette, Basma’s Mum.

- Please pray for Lainey and Gareth, who live in Dane End. Their baby, Alfred, was born last week too early to survive.

- Each week, there are people we know who are unwell but who prefer not to be named here. God knows who they are; please pray for them all.

Pray for our community

In our cycle of prayers, this weekend we ask you to include in your prayers:

- our local farmers, in these challenging times, due to the unusually hot and dry weather

- those in sourcing and distribution who make sure there is abundant food in our shops and markets

- our health care professionals, doctors, nurses, carers etc

Pray for our outreach, our service and our churches

This week we ask you to include in your prayers:

- all who organise and support various fundraising activities

- the builders, stonemasons and others working on our capital projects

- those who care for our churchyards

Pray for our mission partners

In our cycle of prayers for our mission partners, this week we ask you to remember the work of the Ellis Family. Andrew leads the River of Life Church in Zimbabwe. More information about our partners can be found on our website.

Please pray for:

- God's keeping and provision for their needs in the continually tougher economic and political situation

- the work of the continually growing River of Life Church, with wisdom in appointing new leaders

- the preparation for the Horizon Camps for young people in August, with provision for their needs, especially staff salaries

- their various family plans (more information on our website) including travel, and family gathering

They send their thanks for our contact and prayers.

If you are aware of anyone who would like our prayers, or who would like the church family to share in some news, good or bad, please let Caroline know.
