This weekend we welcome Hugo, along with his family and supporters. Hugo will be baptised during the 10.30 service in St Mary’s.
This weekend’s Bible reading:
Galatians 3:23-4:7 (p 1170)
Book stall news:
John has been recommended a book called "Right to die?" by Andrew Goddard (please note this is not the book of the same name by John Wyatt). Lizzy is able to take orders at the bookstall this week (priced £5 each).
Choral evensong this week:
Please join us for this service of words and music at 6.00 on Sunday, led, as usual, by our benefice choir. An added bonus this weekend is that St Mary’s is relatively cool, compared with the outside temperature!
Assisted Dying Bill:
Thank you to everyone who contacted our MP about the Assisted Dying bill. Sadly, the bill was voted through, with 314 votes for the bill and 291 votes against. However, our MP - who had previously voted for the bill - voted against it, so this is positive. Please pray for the Lords as they, in turn, debate the issues.
Midweek Music 25th June:
The next Midweek Music concert is this coming Wednesday at 12.30, preceded as usual by delicious refreshments served from 11.30am. It will be given by the very talented Naomi Boot who some of you will know and who sang for us last year. She will be accompanied by another student from the Royal College of Music, Viviana Taga-Rafa. Do come and support these talented young musicians - the professionals of the future.
Open Gardens and Open Gardens!
Thank you to all who supported Standon Open Gardens in whatever way. We raised just over £8,400.
The Mundens’ Open Gardens is on 28th June. There are fliers in our churches.
- 10 gardens will be open from 10 until 5; tickets will be available from Stag Hall or the church (or in advance online).
- Lunches will be served at Stag Hall.
- Refreshments and plant sale will be available at All Saints.
Safari Supper:
FOSM is organising another safari supper on Friday 11th July. Supper will be served in three different locations in Standon, all within easy walking distance. Tickets, priced £40, are available from Diana 07718 734897.
Sacombe picnic:
In the summer, it’s our custom to invite everyone to stay for a picnic after our 5th Sunday service at St Catherine’s. This year, we have two summer 5th Sundays, and the picnic will be on the second one, 31st August rather than 29th June.
Little Munden School Choir:
The school choir will join us again for our service on 20th July, just before they finish for the summer holiday. Please come along and make them and their parents welcome.
Holiday Bible Club:
HBC will run from 26th to 29th August in St Mary’s. Bookings are going well, but please spread the word. If you’re willing to help, please speak to Caroline.
