***Please note that next week’s notices sheet will cover the whole of August. Please let Caroline have any items for inclusion relating to August or early September***
This weekend’s Bible readings:
Galatians 5:1, 13-25 (p 1171)
Baptisms:
This Sunday, 27th, is a baptism service in St Mary’s, but we have an extra baptism the same morning. At 9.00am, Stanley, who has been coming to our services and has joined the benefice choir, will be baptised in the river. All are welcome to come and support him. He will be at the 10.30 service too, as will Daisy and Rosie and baby Eden, who will be baptised, more conventionally for little ones, in the font! Please make them all welcome. We look forward to seeing you there.
Choral Evensong at 6pm on Sunday:
Please join us for this month’s Choral Evensong service. Music will include a beautiful new setting by Philip Stopford of the prayer of St Francis, 'Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace', Stanford's Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in C and hymns for all.
And August’s Choral Evensong:
On Sunday 24th August, our benefice choir will welcome other singers to join them in a 'Come and Sing' service of Choral Evensong in St Mary's at 6pm. If you know of someone who would enjoy singing Evensong with us, please contact Michael Smith [email protected]. All are, of course, welcome in the congregation.
Wool for Kisiizi:
Double knitting wool is needed, please, to knit vests, blankets, hats & booties for babies at Kisiizi hospital in Uganda, preferably bright colours rather than pale but everything is gratefully received. Please leave wool in the box near the back of St Mary’s. Half knitted garments are also acceptable. Please contact Di on 01920 821130 if you have any queries or need the wool to be collected.
Midweek Music:
Thank you to all who have supported the Midweek Music concerts this year. There were 84 in the audience this week to hear a wonderful recital by the Wild Rose Trio. Since last September £2,987 has been raised from the concerts for the three churches in our Benefice, and gift aid tax has been claimed on most of that total.
There is no Midweek Music in August. It returns on Wednesday 24th September when Margaret Goodall and Michael Smith will present a programme of music for trumpet and organ.
Quiz Night advance notice:
The Little Munden Quiz Night will be held on 13th September in Little Munden School. More details will follow, but please note the date in your diary. For tickets (at £15), please email [email protected].
