St Olaf

Welcome to St Olaf.  This beautiful stave church in Balestrand overlooks Sognefjord.  It was built nearly 125 years ago in memory of an English woman Margaret Kvikne whose vision had been to build a place to pray for the many foreign visitors to the area.  The church continues to receive many visitors and offers a summer chaplaincy every year.  This ministry is under the Anglican Chaplaincy in Norway and is exercised in close cooperation with the Church of Norway.

The Anglican Chaplaincy in Norway is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Chaplaincy Safeguarding Officer contactable at [email protected]. The Diocese in Europe’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our safeguarding officer. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
