Yes, St George's is setting up a children's choir, in the autumn! Thanks to funding from the Diocese, we are in a position to recruit a children's choir and employ a Director of Music. 

This will add a whole new dimension to our worship. The presence of a choir will bring enrichment to the liturgy by supporting congregational hymn singing, enhancing reflection through introit/post communion anthems, introducing new mass settings and settings for special occasions, particularly oriented towards a younger congregation.

Fr Louis says, “Good music lifts the heart, cheers the soul and helps us to worship God with all our of senses. It brings people together, sharpens discipline and skill, and creates community. One of the gifts of the Anglican tradition is the glory of its music." 

We aim to appoint the Director of Music by the end of October. S/he will then be responsible for developing a comprehensive ministry of music will serve St George’s well into the future. The children's choir will be the first element, and we are hoping it can start rehearsals in November/December and maybe even make a small contribution to our Christmas worship.
