Join us Sunday, November 1st for our Patronal Service, All Saints Day. Our evening service will feature a reflective service, honouring and remembering those we love but no longer see. We look forward to welcoming you at 8am, 9:30am, or 6:30pm.

A popular regular community event supporting producers of cheese / delicatessen / bread / beer / honey / meat and other makers' stalls. There is (free) live music, Kitchen- and Tableware Re-Use & Recycle and Plant stalls (the only ones in aid of church funds). Our extra charity this month is the Samaritans. We are also fundraising to upgrade the accessibility of our much-used community centre (please see below!)

The Kremlin's Geordie Spy
In his illustrated talk Vin will begin by showing how his interest developed in this man, William Fischer, 'the Geordie spy', and how the various pieces of his published work came about.  He will outline the spy's upbringing on Tyneside and his 45 years in the Soviet security and intelligence services, telling how he served in London in the 1930s, his role in WW2, what he was doing as an 'illegal'  in the United States in the 1940s and 50s, and the aftermath.   Vin will also offer some asides on the Steven Spielberg film Bridge of Spies - which amongst other things tells the story of the first Cold War spy exchange which featured Fischer, using his final code name 'Rudolf Abel'. This is a fundraising event to raise funds for the accessibility upgrade of All Saints Centre, much used by local groups but in need of updating and necessary repairs.
This talk will begin at 6pm on Wed 29th November in church; there will be light refreshments before and during an interval when you will have the chance to talk to Vin and to observe a table of memorabilia!
