I broke my right leg in January 2025. Right upper tibial plateau fracture, if you're interested. After much sitting around and rehabilitation I was back on my feet with no crutches in May 2025. In July 2025 I embarked on the 'Couch to 5K' running programme. A visit to Chester coincided with the 2025 Chester marathon which led to an 'I can do that' moment! So, in October 2025 I started training for the Boston (UK) Marathon (I doesn't want anyone to think that I'm doing the US version). Why that marathon? Because it allowed plenty of time for training and it's my hometown with relatives still in the area to support me. It's also very FLAT although there will probably be plenty of wind to make up for the lack of hills. Why go to all this effort? Because I see the impact that the churches in Feniton and Escot have in their communities and I want to help them continue their great work for years to come. The churches can't survive without money and I want to do my bit to keep the churches afloat. If you can possibly help by making a donation it would make it all worthwhile for me.Here'sthe address of the fundraising page:https://givealittle.co/c/BostonMarathon2026Thank youShanTreasurer, Feniton with Escot PCC
The Bible Reading Marathon held in Feniton Church from 3-5 November 2023 has (so far) raised over £1100. The readers read their way through the whole Bible, through cold nights and awkward-to-pronounce names to finally finish during Storytome on Sunday 5 November. The children joined in to read the final words of Revelation. The funds are much needed since current work to stop the roof of the church tower leaking and other remedial roof works are likely to cost over £20,000. We are very happy that The Friends of St Andrews have agreed to fund half of the work, however the reamining £10,000 to be paid by the church directly will make a severe hole in our 2023 finances. We are grateful to all those who read and who have donated to this fundraiser. We were happy to be able to increase the reach of our fundraising by use of the contactless/web fundraising solution recently supplied by The Diocese of Exeter's Mission Reseources department.
