People's Emergency Briefing

Occurring
for 1 hour, 30 mins
Venue
Sidmouth Parish Church
Address
Church Street Sidmouth Exeter, EX10 8LG, United Kingdom

Last November, ten of the UK’s leading experts briefed an invited audience of over 1,200 politicians and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media. The briefing set out the implications of climate and nature breakdown for health, food systems, national security and the economy.

The People’s Emergency Briefing presents the national implications of climate and nature breakdown – along with credible, positive responses – in a single, accessible account. A new film featuring Chris Packham, leading scientists, a former general and Jennifer Saunders – all being far too frank about where things are heading and what can be done about it.
Following the film, there will be an opportunity to discuss our responses to the information presented.

Sidmouth Parish Church

At, Sidmouth Parish Church on the Heritage Coast of East Devon, we welcome many visitors to the town as well as serving the local community in regular worship and special civic occasions. We are part of the Sid Valley Mission Community where different traditions work together in mission and ministry. The building largely dates from 1860, but retains a 15th century tower, featuring the beautiful west window given by Queen Victoria as a memorial to her father. Recent excavations to put in a new floor revealed the foundations of an earlier 12th century church. The aim of our Mission Community is to know Christ and make him known. Do come and join us for worship. For more information follow the link to our website https://www.sidvalley.org.uk/sidmouthparishchurch.htm

The parish of Sidmouth is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). The Diocese of Exeter’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
