Life Events
St George’s is a community of people following Jesus, and we are honoured to help mark some of life’s most important moments—whether as part of our church family or alongside you at significant times.
Infant Baptism (Christening)
Having children is a great privilege, and baptism is a wonderful way to begin their journey in faith. We would love to support you and your family and help you connect with the church community at St George’s.
Come and join us at our 11am Sunday service, where we can begin the conversation about baptising your child and the promises involved.
Adult Baptism
Many adults choose baptism as a public declaration of new or rediscovered faith. This important step marks a decision to follow Jesus, and we celebrate these moments during our Sunday services.
When you’re ready, please get in touch—or simply come along on a Sunday morning.
Weddings
We know planning a wedding raises many questions.
- Can we marry here if we have children? Yes.
- If we are divorced? We would be happy to talk this through with you.
- Civil weddings? We are licensed for Church of England weddings only. For civil ceremonies, please contact Torbay Registry Office.
- Costs? Standard fees are available—please use the contact form.

Funerals
We understand how difficult it is to lose someone you love. If you choose a funeral at St George’s, the vicar will meet with you to listen to your loved one’s story and help plan a meaningful service.
Your funeral director will liaise with us to make the necessary arrangements, whether the service is in church or at the crematorium. We will support you every step of the way.
Visiting the Sick or Housebound
Together with the vicar, our pastoral visiting team offers prayer and home communion to those who are unwell or housebound. If you would like a visit, please complete the contact form and someone will be in touch.
