About Us

St Michael's Church Strete is part of the Coast and Country Mission community of four churches in this beautiful part of South Hams. We are a small congregation and come together to encourage one another in faith, to bless our communities and to pray for the world. Once a quarter, on 5th Sundays we join together with the 3 other churches in worship.

Our Vicar, Rev Matt Gorton, arrived in Aug 2023 and brought with him a much needed enthusiasm for children's and family work. He has also brought new technology and a more modern approach to worship. He is ably supported by our 3 Licensed Lay Ministers who also take services.

Music. We usually have an organist, but would like to explore other options including a contemporary worship band. If anyone is interested please contact Debby 07551166910.

We always look forward to seeing our regular worshippers, plus anyone on holiday or new to the area - you are all very welcome. Please stay for tea, coffee and a chat after the service with us!

The Building. St Michael's Church was built in 1836 as chapel of ease for Blackawton. We have a sloped access ramp at the entrance and a small car park in Hynetown Road opposite the church.
