Major Restoration works will take place. We are very grateful to the National Lottery Heritage Fund the Garfield Weston Foundation and Devon Historic Churches Trust for their support.
We are very excited, our beautiful mediaeval Church will begin its journey of repair and restoration; stopping water ingress in the tower and main walls,
Repairing the South Porch and South windows, replacing gutters and installing a toilet and shower and a kitchen if funds will allow.
Our rare and beautiful medieval pulpit is to be restored, it is carved from a single trunk of oak.
We are now in week eight, the work is progressing very well despite some very rough weather, the days are getting longer, we hope the repointing will soon begin.
St James the Great
Welcome to St Winwaloe's Church, East Portlemouth, in the beautiful South Hams of Devon.
From 5 November we shall be closed for regular worship. We plan to open for private prayer on Sundays between 10am and 12noon for the month.
We look forward to welcoming you to our services when they restart in December.
With the closure of our building, and some people not being able to give due to the financial impact of the pandemic on them, we cannot receive all the gifts that we usually would, so we really need your help now. If you are able to give more at this time, we would be very grateful for your online donation.
The parish of East Portlemouth, St Winwaloe's, is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officers, (PSOs). The Diocese of Exeter’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.

This PDF, which is an extract from the Church of England’s database of churches, can serve as a certificate for churches requiring proof of their charity status when registering for online and card-based giving.
