A rare chance to enjoy a superb afternoon of organ and Piano music at 15:00 on Friday 25 September 2026.

The Friends of St Mary’s Church are proud and delighted to welcome two celebrated musicians, Peter Nardone and Jonathan Delbridge, who will be giving a special concert in our beautiful church in Beaminster.

With a full-time career in music, and having performed across 25 countries over five continents, Peter Nardone’s areas of expertise include organ, piano, singing, and conducting. In 2010 he was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Arts from Anglia Ruskin University. Peter now lives in West Dorset and St Mary’s Church has been privileged to have him as resident organist over the past five years.

Jonathan Delbridge holds a special interest in English piano music, performing in venues throughout the UK, often including his own arrangements and improvisations. During his career he has gained various diplomas and, in 2011, he achieved a distinction in the DipMusTh(ICMA) diploma in music theory. Jonathan lives in SW Dorset and is passionate about sharing his love of music as a performer and as an educator.

Both Peter and Jonathan promise a dynamic and diverse programme including much-loved favourites such as Ave Maria, Carnival of Animals and Country Gardens, incorporating surprises along the way with piano duet, organ duet, organ, and piano solos.

The event costs £10 at the door, with under 16s free entry. There will be light refreshments of tea and cakes.

Drimpton: St Mary

There has been a Methodist Chapel in Netherhay since 1838 but Church of England folk had to travel to Broadwindsor for services. The building of a chapel of ease "to hold a congregation of 100" commenced in 1863 on land belonging to the John Gould charity. The money for the building of the chapel having been "solicited from friends and neighbours". Among those to give was Archbishop Trench of Dublin who forwarded a donation with the words "Poor Ireland sends £2 to rich England". The stone was given by Capt Spurway, a local landowner, but the building still cost £584, in today's money £34,000; it took 3 years to build and seven years to pay for.

Drimpton St Mary is part of the Beaminster Area Team Ministry which covers 50 square miles of beautiful rural West Dorset. The team consists of 14 individual parishes plus the chapel in the grounds of Mapperton House. Our worship shows a wonderful variety of styles ranging from services from the Book of Common Prayer to the child-centred Messy Church, with music a vital part of our activities.
