St.Barnabas Church Bearwood
We are a family-oriented community church in the heart of Bearwood and form part of the Canford Parish group of Churches alongside the Canford Parish Church and the Lantern Church in Merley.
We first opened our doors in 1982 as Bearwood Church; in 2005, the Bishop of Sherborne (Tim Thornton) dedicated the Church and renamed it St Barnabas.
We are an Evangelical and Charismatic Church. We believe in the authority of the Bible. We believe that the ‘Gifts of the Holy Spirit are available today and that God is moving powerfully in his Church. We learn how to walk and act, as Jesus did, to each other and the community we are trying to serve.
The parish of Canford Magna is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Salisbury’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
