During services and on most Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm
The church is off Butchers Hill postcode DA12 3EB It is in the centre of the village just off the main street and near the Rose & Crown pub.
By Car: Butchers Hill is closed to vehicles in the middle so the church should be approached via The Street in the village centre. The whole of Butchers Hill has the same post code (DA12 3EB) so there is a danger that if you use this postcode in a satnav it may take you via MIll Hill Lane to the wrong end of Butchers Hill.
Approaching from the A2 London-Dover trunk road turn off at the Cobham & Shorne junction, follow the signs to Shorne which take you via Brewers Road over the A2. Take the first turning left into Woodlands Lane and at the end of Woodlands Lane turn left at the T junction into Tanyard Hill. Go downhill, follow the road sharp left & uphill, but instead of following the road sharp right opposite the Rose & Crown pub continue straight on uphill into Butchers Hill. The church approach is about 100 yards on the left but note the comments on parking below.
Approaching from the A226 Gravesend-Rochester road from the Medway Towns direction turn left into Pear Tree Lane at the traffic lights in Higham. Continue into The Ridgeway. Turn left at the first turning at Chestnut Green into Tanyard Hill. Then continue as if approaching from the A2.
Coming from the A226 Gravesend-Rochester road from the Gravesend direction turn right at the dual carriageway just past Earl’s Garage signposted Shorne and into Forge Lane. Follow that into the village. Past the village hall in The Street opposite the Rose & Crown pub where The Street bends sharp left downhill, turn right uphill into Butchers Lane. The church approach is about 100 yards on the left but note the comments on parking below.
Parking: The church does not have a car park. There is very little room to park in the church approach road which gets very congested and we prefer to leave that for the disabled. Please park in the village. You may park in the village hall car park if the hall is not being used for a function. There are no other car parks.
By bus: The bus service through the village is very infrequent and there are no buses on Sundays.
There is an Arriva service along the A226 Gravesend – Rochester Road no 136 which goes from Gravesend railway station to Chatham via Strood, Rochester & Chatham railway stations, though it may not stop right outside them. It stops at the Shorne cross roads on the A226 and there ia a walk of just over half a mile to the church, mostly uphill. It runs approx. every half hour on weekdays and Saturdays during the main part of the day but there is no service on Sundays. The details are not straightforward and so it is best to check the Timetable .
Nu Venture runs two services through the village on weekdays and Saturdays but none on Sundays:
416: From Gravesend to Meopham , 5 services a day on weekdays and 3 on Saturdays. It passes Gravesend and Sole Street railway stations but not Meopham station.
417: From Gravesend to Cliffe, 3 services a day but none on Sundays. It passes Gravesend and Higham railway stations.
It is best to check the Timetable .
