About Us
St James Church, Isle of Grain, Rochester, Kent
As Christians in our local community we serve everyone by offering regular worship, alongside opportunities to explore spirituality and faith, a place to meet, including through our cafe sessions. We work alongside our local schools, and with people of other faiths and of no faith. Everyone is welcome.
Our church fellowship meets at 11.00 am on a Sunday morning, with Holy Communion (Common Worship) every 2nd and 4th Sunday. Every 1st and 3rd Sunday is Morning Prayer but on the third Sunday we have refreshments and usually homemade wares and spend time on discussing the Bible readings for that Sunday subject to latest Covid19 regulations
We recognise that hospitality is a gift from God, and we love to share that with our local area. Here you will find a warm welcome, and authentic community.
Everyone should feel and be safe in church. Any concerns about safeguarding should be made to our Parish Safeguarding Officer. Veronica Cordier can be contacted by email on [email protected]
Throughout the pandemic we have maintained a presence either by opening for quiet prayer only - social distancing in place - or if not possible we have had displays created relevant to the various events usually marked by a service. Please see our gallery for some of the displays.
St James Church continues to be available for Wedding services, funeral services and Baptisms and we ask you to contact Veronica for more details.
