Silvington: St Michael
St Michael's, Silvington, in the Stottesdon Group of Churches
This is the ultimate country church: small, ancient and at the heart of its community surrounded by farm buildings! It serves a tiny parish but is actively used - not just for regular Sunday services, but for special occasions for the community as well. As it has been for the last eight hundred years or so.

Cleeton St Mary: St Mary
St Mary's, Cleeton St Mary, in the Stottesdon Group of Churches
St Mary's church was built by a local philanthropist in the late nineteenth century along with a vicarage, school and alms houses, for the scattered farming community on the north-eastern slopes of the Titterstone Clee Hill. It is a gem of a building - not much to look at outside, but beautifully finished on the inside in the best of Victorian gothic. It serves as a place of worship for Sunday services and for the life occasions of this little village perched within the Clee hills, with views across towards Brown Clee, the Long Mynd and beyond.
In recent years the fabric of the building has started to show it's age and to this end, St Mary's is embarking on an exciting project to restore the building and bring the church back in to the heart of community life; creating displays on the heritage of the hills while also improving facilities for locals and visitors alike. The Common Treasury project will last for a year and enable people to get involved in this area's unique heritage through creative workshops, walks, habitat preservation, music and family events. We are seeking funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and other trusts, but really need to match their support with donations. If you can help save this building and give it and its community a thriving future, please donate using the `online giving' menu option on the LHS of this page.
The Stottesdon benefice has been without a priest-in-charge for well over two years, but with the recent appointment of a new vicar to serve our group of parishes, along with the launch of the above mentioned community based project, we look forward to a brighter more inclusive future for our little much loved parish.

Holy Trinity, Sidbury, in the Stottesdon Group of Churches
This small and very attractive church stands next to the field where the ground holds the undulations of the old deserted village. It has distinctive herringbone stonework, and beautiful panelling inside.

Middleton Scriven: St John the Baptist
St John the Baptist, Middleton Scriven, in the Stottesdon Group of Churches
This Victorian church rebuild is on the site of the original mediaeval church, which was also extended at the same time. It has recently been reordered to provide community space in the nave, where monthly coffee mornings and special occasions like harvest suppers and Lent lunches can be held.

Stottesdon: St Mary
St Mary's may seem a surprisingly big church for a small village, reflecting its history as being the centre of the Mediaeval Stottesdon Hundred. Please see the News and Notices for a description of the church.
Licensing of Revd Dr. Sally Wallace-Jones
The Rev’d Sally’s Licensing for the Benefice as a whole will take place on 17th February at 7pm at St Mary’s Church, Stottesdon, on behalf of all 6 parishes of the Benefice and promises to be quite an occasion. Both serious and joyful in approach it seeks to not only formally record the arrival of the new Rector but together for all present to welcome her to her new role and her new parishes. The service will be led by Bishop Richard who will be ably supported by not only office holders from the Diocese but also from the Deanery and most importantly our own parishes.
There is a lot of planning (and church cleaning!) being done and heads to be scratched but the parishes together will rise to the occasion! The key message is that everyone is so very welcome to this service as indeed they are to all events and services in the parishes. We don’t get many Licensing services (so its new for all of us) so please come along to welcome our new Rector.
