The feast day of St. Giles is 1st September, so we will be celebrating our Patronal Festival with Morning Prayer on Sunday 30th August. This will be conducted by a Lay Leader of Worship from our congregation. Following the service there will be a social with drinks and home-baking - including traditional cakes called Hermits, as a tribute to St. Giles, who lived as a forest hermit. Visitors are most welcome to join us for this special service.

St Giles' Church,
Park Road

At the start of Remembrancetide, which ends with Remembrance Sunday, a Lay Leader of Worship will take this family service, when we will remember and pray for those we have known and loved who are no longer with us. Anyone wishing to have prayers said for a specific relative or friend is welcome to put a note in the box at the back of the church.
The service will be followed by traditional refreshments including Shropshire Soul Cakes.
This will be family-friendly worship; a less formal service particularly suitable for families with younger children. There is a children's area in the church where little ones can occupy themselves with books, toys, etc.

This is the last Sunday before Advent, when the church celebrates Christ the King. Traditionally, it is the day for making Christmas puddings, so we will have a stall selling home-made puddings and mincemeat after this service.
Our holy communion will be presided over by a member of the clergy.
