It will take some time for the proposed new benefice to be legally constituted but since September when the final decision and agreement was made, Pitney has begun to make connections with the new benefice. The PCCs gathered together in September over tea and cakes. Both benefices have been in vacancy for quite some time. Pitney and Long Sutton with Long Load have been without a priest for three and a half years and the Somerton group of parishes for slightly less time. The priority has been to create a Benefice Profile and advertise for a new priest. We are looking forward to a closer association with our new benefice as time goes on and a new priest has been found.
