St John the Baptist
Welcome to St John the Baptist Tunstall a friendly parish church situated in the stunning Lune Valley. It is part of the joint parishes of St Peter's, Leck and St Wilfrid's, Melling and is a member church of the Benefice of East Lonsdale. A church at Tunstall is recorded in the Domesday Survey but the oldest structure in the present church dates from C.13th. In the early C.19th the church was attended by the Brontë sisters during the year they attended the Clergy Daughter's School at nearby Cowan Bridge.
