St Wilfrid

Welcome to St Wilfrid's a friendly parish church situated in the stunning Lune Valley. It is part of the joint parishes of St John the Baptist, Tunstall and St Peter's, Leck and is a member church of the Benefice of East Lonsdale. St Wilfrid's church, Melling is a Grade 1 listed building. The earliest fabric in the church dates from around 1300 or earlier but as it is near the earthworks of a motte-and-bailey castle, it is possible that a church has been on the site since the 10th century. St Wilfrid's church offers a range of services more details of which can be found lower down this page.

Safeguarding

"Our parish of Tunstall: St. John the Baptist and Melling: St. Wilfred and Leck: St Peter is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Blackburn’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Jennifer Brook-Thompson t. 07794 464942 or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor https://www.blackburn.anglican.org/reporting-a-safeguarding-concern. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
