Our Building

St Oswald's aims to be a warm and welcoming space. A small area with sofas available in the Langdale Aisle.

Two windows on the south side from the 1890s by Henry Holiday, a window on the north side from about 1926 by Shrigley and Hunt. Medieval glass in the windows on the south side of the chancel.

Second hand books and greeting cards for sale at the back of the church.


Music and Worship

Practice at 5pm on Thursdays. All welcome. Further details about ringing available on the website.

Recently restored historic organ. Commissioned in memory of nurse Nellie Taylor who was killed in France in the first world war.

Guides to the church and the organ are available in several languages at the back of the church for purchase or loan.

The church is usually open from 9am to 5pm, sometimes a little earlier or later.

Everyone is welcome!

Rooted in Grasmere Valley, shaped by weather prayer and time, St Oswald’s church has served generations as a place simply to rest before God. The rector and church wardens humbly receive written prayer requests entrusted to this church.

Bikes may be left in the church yard, though no racks exist yet.
