Music at Grasmere is delighted to welcome Ian Pattinson of Lancaster Priory for an evening of organ music, including: Bach: Fugue on the Magnificat, Saint-Saëns: The Swan, Walton: Crown Imperial, Mozart: Epistle Sonata, Stanford: Postlude in D minor, and Pattinson: Prelude on St Botolph. Ian’s playing delights audiences across the north west, and his performances have been broadcast on the BBC. He is also a published composer. FREE event.
The Mikeleiz-Zucchi Duo is a London–based ensemble formed by Canadian saxophonist David Zucchi and Spanish accordionist Iñigo Mikeleiz-Berrade. Their repertoire spans reimagined traditional works to modern repertoire and improvisation, vividly rendered by the unique combination of saxophone and accordion. The programme includes Bach: Flute Sonata in E minor BWV 1034, Grieg: Holberg Suite Op.40 (arr. MZ Duo), Sweeney: Mirrie Dancers, Haigh: Hell Hot, Piazzolla: Pedro y Pedro (arr. MZ Duo). Led by world renowned operatic baritone Thomas Allen, join "Grasmere Song @ Ambleside" on a walk from Ambleside Parish Centre, passing the home of William Wordsworth at Rydal Mount and reading poetry along the way, to finish at St Oswald's church. If you are not a participant in Grasmere Song @ Ambleside, please email [email protected] to register your interest. The walk is 6.5km along well trodden paths with gentle slopes, offering stunning views. FREE event.
David Hill is one of Britain’s most distinguished conductors, renowned for his artistry across both choral and orchestral music and equally in demand as an organist, giving recitals at major venues at home and abroad.
Born in Carlisle, Hill has made acclaimed recordings and collaborated with major orchestras across Europe, North America, and Australasia, with a repertoire reaching from the Renaissance to the present day. His passion for contemporary music is reflected in premieres of works by a host of leading composers.
Beyond performance, Hill is a globally respected teacher, writer and choral advisor, receiving the Royal College of Organists medal for distinguished achievement in choral conducting and organ playing In 2018, and an MBE for services to music in 2019. £10 on the door
