The Sunday service at St James takes place at 10:30hrs.
First Sunday in the month - Family Service, led by the Youth Choir. This is generally non-Eucharistic and is less formal
Second Sunday in the month - Holy Communion
Third Sunday in the month - lay-led Service of the Word/Morning Prayer
Fourth Sunday in the month - Holy Communion
Fifth Sunday (where relevant) - joint Holy Communion service with the St Peter's congregation, please check for detailed information

Our Youth Choir is suitable for young people from Year 3 upwards and offers an inclusive and rounded musical training, following the RSCM Ribbon Scheme. It is led by dedicated musicians with a wide range of musical experience and the young people have a lot of fun as well as learning skills which will benefit them for their whole life.

The Youth Choir leads the service on the first Sunday of the month at the Family Service at 10:30hrs

This service is held at the Old Church, Mill Lane during the summer (generally in line with BST). Where possible we offer a service of Holy Communion but if no priest is available, it will be a lay led service.
In colder months it is held in the Narthex at St James
Everyone is welcome to stay for coffee after the service

The Bereavement Journey is a seven week course of videos dealing with grief, accompanied by facilitated discussions in small groups. There are 6 weeks of sessions which are intended to be accessible to everyone, of all faiths and none, with an optional seventh session which looks at how faith can inform our experience of grief.
We are running this course at the Youth Hostel in Alveston, starting on 22nd June 2026 at 19:30hrs. The cost will be £25 (plus a small additional fee for the workbook for the faith session if you choose to attend this). However, please contact us if the cost would be a barrier to you accessing the Journey.
