Weddings

Marriage in church is about inviting God to be part of your marriage, and to bless it.

Marriage in church contains both legal and spiritual elements. The Bible tells us that: “God is love, and those who live in love live in God and God lives in them.” (1 John 4:16)

This is what we want for all those who come to get married at Brimington Parish Church.

The Rector will need to make sure that you can get married in church. Here are some of the questions you will be asked…

Do you live in the parish?
You can check which parish you live in here (https://www.achurchnearyou.com) Do you have a “qualifying connection” to St Michaels?
More information can be found here (https://www.yourchurchwedding.org/article/finding-a-church/) Have you been married before?
Being married previously does not stop you from being able to get married at St Michaels, but we may need to talk about your previous marriages.

Don’t worry if you’re not sure or if you need any help with these questions… The Rector will be able to help you find out exactly what is needed, and guide you through the process, step by step.

You can find all sorts of useful information about Church of England weddings: everything from legalities, to hymn suggestions, to planning your big day by visiting: https://www.yourchurchwedding.org
