Weddings at St John’s
We would be delighted to help you explore the possibility of getting married at St John’s. We want your wedding to be a joyful and meaningful celebration, and we will support you in preparing for your special day.
Please come into the Church Office (open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 10am–12noon) and ask for a Wedding Pack. This contains all the information you need, and our team will be happy to explain the process to you.
If you or your engaged partner live in this parish and are getting married in another Church, you will need to have your Banns read here before you can get married.
To arrange this, you will need to complete two forms: a Banns Application Form and a Specified Evidence Form. These forms can be downloaded below or collected from the Church Office.
Your completed Banns Application Form should be returned to the Church Office by post, email or in person. A payment will also be required before we can proceed with the reading of your Banns. We will confirm the amount when we receive your form, and will let you know the three dates on which your Banns will be called.
You will both need to attend one of the 10am services at which your Banns are being read. Please bring your completed Specified Evidence Form and your original ID documents with you for the Minister to see and sign. These forms and documents cannot be emailed.
Prayers for same-sex couples:
Church of England and national legislation currently means that our clergy cannot officiate at same-sex weddings. However, we warmly welcome same-sex couples to St John’s and offer Prayers of Love and Faith as part of our commitment to celebrating and supporting your relationship.
