We are especially excited about the special services on Sunday 18th May and Sunday22nd June. They will both be occasions to celebrate the beauty of Dorsington and thenatural world.Sunday May 18th - as you may know the Parochial Church Council (PCC) has adopteda new management regime for the churchyard, one that should encourage and nurturebiodiversity. After a short service Paddy Sexton, who has helped design the newregime, will be talking about the principles and hopes that underlie this fresh approach.Sunday 22nd June – will include a walk through the arboretum. We are inviting somepeople with a particular interest in birds to join us so hopefully we will be able tocompile a list of the birds we see and hear.We hope you will be able to attend and we look forward to welcoming you.
The Carol Service is always a highlight of the church calendar at St Peter’s in Dorsington. With no shop, pub or other community building, it is a rare and cherished opportunity for the village to gather to celebrate Christmas and socialise over a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie. For such a small community, we are disproportionately blessed with talent and were treated to a beautiful reading by Izzy, a saxophone solo by Otis and Mags’ accomplished organ playing. Everyone left with a warm, fuzzy, Christmassy feeling (and not just because of the mulled wine).
We have recently embarked on an exciting project to ‘rewild’ the churchyard. This will involve leaving some areas unmown in order to provide a habitat for native species of flora and fauna to thrive. We have also installed a number of bird boxes.
