The Carol Service is always a highlight of the church calendar at St Peter’s in Dorsington. With no shop, pub or other community building, it is a rare and cherished opportunity for the village to gather to celebrate Christmas and socialise over a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie. For such a small community, we are disproportionately blessed with talent and were treated to a beautiful reading by Izzy, a saxophone solo by Otis and Mags’ accomplished organ playing. Everyone left with a warm, fuzzy, Christmassy feeling (and not just because of the mulled wine).
We have recently embarked on an exciting project to ‘rewild’ the churchyard. This will involve leaving some areas unmown in order to provide a habitat for native species of flora and fauna to thrive. We have also installed a number of bird boxes. In May we were delighted to welcome Bishop Rachel to Dorsington for a short service followed by a walk across the fields through the Heart of England Forest to our neighbouring parish of Pebworth. This was a joyful celebration of nature and community and we were grateful to Bishop Rachel for taking time out of her busy schedule to come and spend some time with us.
