Posada is an old Mexican tradition in which figures of Mary and Joseph stay at people’s homes and businesses in the run up to Christmas.

A small set of wooden Mary and Joseph figures travel around different homes and businesses in the parish during advent. They need a house to stay at each night. Everyone is welcome to offer a home for them for the night.

The Posada ends on Wednesday 24th December at 10am when the figures arrive at Wellingore Church.

We invite everyone, who has taken part in the Posada and those who haven’t, to come Wellingore Church that day to join us for the very short 20-minute service, welcoming Mary and Joseph ready for the birth of Christ.

This is a short Eucharist service, which takes place by the St Lawrence altar. Tea, coffee and biscuits afterwards.

The ringing of bells welcomes parishioners to a service, combining the Eucharist, hymns and a sermon. The service is followed by the serving of refreshments, providing the opportunity to socialise.

Afternoon Tea for those who are lonely and not generally able to get out and about.
