This year we met Merlin the Working Cocker Spaniel and his owner Liz who are part of a community of pet owners and their amazing pets who brighten days and bring joy to people in hospitals, care homes, schools and more.We learned about the selection process, of what it takes to become a registered 'Pets as Therapy' dog and all about the marvellous work that goes on out in the community in this wonderful partnership between owner and dog. We were also privileged to watch Merlin demonstrate some of his tricks, all watched with interest by the other dogs in attendance.
Although this service is aimed at everyone, for those who would like to explore worship without the formality of a typical Sunday service, this could be the perfect start for you.It offers the opportunity to take time out of our busy day to thank God for all the good things in our lives, to pray for our community, to sing his praises and then to drink coffee and eat cake over a chat with old and new friends afterwards. What is there not to like? Come and join us, you are most welcome.
The church was looking beautiful, thanks to a small group of ladies from the resident Art Group who buffed, tidied and polished her ready for her visitors. The grotesque stone carvings in the north arcade and the RAF Squadron 166 memorial window and memorabilia, including "operation Manna" in 1945 were lovingly showcased. There was also a selection of paintings on display from our talented local artists, a celebration of organ music along with light refreshments and a warm welcome. It was lovely to see the wider community together having such a pleasant time.Thank you to everyone who contributed to making it such a success and to everyone who came to visit.
