Church of England Diocese of Liverpool Wigan East (Chapelfields)

About Us

The building is closed but are hearts are open. We are praying for you all.

Our Facebook page contains details of how to join others online for prayer, worship, study and community life. See

The church is located in the village of Abram in Wigan and is part of The Chapelfields Parish.  We are a growing, welcoming and inclusive Anglican Church and the hub of our local community. We welcome ANYONE – Christians from any denomination or group, people thinking about faith, people who are just curious and want to see what church is like….ALL are welcome. You do not need to be a member or become a member, or let anyone know you are coming: just turn up. This website gives a glimpse into who we are but we would love to meet you so why not come along and say hello.

If you have extra needs, you may find that you are already catered for:

We have baby change facilities and a children’s corner with books and soft toys.

Partially sighted – larger print service sheets and notice sheets are available on request.

Limited mobility – we are fully wheelchair accessible and have a disabled toilet. We have many members with limited mobility so this is catered for, and you can have communion in your seat.

Nonverbal communication – We sometimes have BSL interpretation during services as a couple of our members know sign language. Although they are not always present, we are willing to have a go at communicating regardless.

Parking – there are places along the road nearby to park your car and a small car park opposite the church.

You do not need to bring anything with you, especially if this is your first visit! We do have a collection, this is where someone will pass around a plate or small bag for people to put money in to help the church do its work in the community, but some people give by direct debit and do not put anything in and some cannot afford to give money but give in other ways. If you are new to the church or just visiting us because you are curious you do not need to give unless you wish to. If you feel anxious about coming for the first time, please get in touch via the ‘get in touch’ page on this website to tell us what your needs are and we can arrange for someone to look out for you and greet you. This can also be a good idea if you suffer from anxiety. You might perhaps like to see one of us beforehand or have a look at the church while it is empty first.
