Worship at St John's

Revd Liz Rowles is team vicar at St John’s and also St Paul’s, Heaton Moor which is our sister church. She takes the majority of services at both churches but some are lay-led by members of the congregation, bringing different perspectives to worship.

We are a people of prayer and we would like to encourage others to pray with us or just to ‘sit in the presence of God’. If you would like to find that space, join us for prayer, readings and reflection.

Although it is an old building, we have made efforts to enable a flexible approach to worship and also events like concerts to take place. The old fixed pews were removed a few years ago and replaced with modern, high quality chairs.

Young families with children are particularly encouraged, with a monthly Family Service. There is a dedicated area set aside for younger children. We’re used to the gentle background noise that little ones can make so don’t be concerned that it will be problem.

Music is an important part of our weekly Sunday services. We have an active robed choir and the church is fortunate in having a fine piped organ, with an accomplished organist.

Our regular services are described in Services and Events.

Our Sunday morning service is usually a service of Holy Communion and is weekly at 11:00.
