St Christopher's, Withington
As per the instructions from the government and the Church of England, our church is now fully closed. Our Rector (Anne), Assistant Curate (Tom S), Reader (Barbra) and Ordinand in Training (Tom P) will continue to say Morning Prayer in their own homes at 9.30 a.m. each day, praying for the parish, the community and our world. You can join in at home using the Morning Prayer booklet available to download here:
Every Sunday morning, a recorded service of prayers, a sermon, a reading and a hymn will be posted on our website, along with the order of service for you to follow:
When we return to business as usual, the below will apply:
On this page, you will find details about our regular services, one-off events, our facilities, and how to contact us. You would be very welcome to join us at any of our services.
Our main Sunday service is at 09:30, using the contemporary language liturgy from Common Worship. We sing hymns, accompanied by the organ. All are invited to receive communion if you are confirmed or a full member of another church. If you would prefer to receive a blessing, come to the altar and keep your head bowed. Gluten-free wafers are available on request.
You are also welcome to join us for our Fresh Expression of Worship at St Christopher’s on the first Sunday of every month. This gathering starts with breakfast and fresh coffee at 9.30 am. We then have a service celebrating God’s story through readings, art, poems and prayers. It is suitable for all ages and very interactive, enabling us to explore and respond to God’s love. The main service starts at 10.00 am and finishes at 10.30 am. Stay around if you can for tea and coffee and to take part in a creative arts activity or some social action until 11.00 am.
We are part of Inclusive Church, and our congregation is diverse in age, nationality and ethnicity.
We serve Fairtrade tea, filter coffee and biscuits at the back of the church after the service.
