About Us

Welcome to our parish!

The Parish of Kirklees Valley is made up of the churches of ALL SAINTS, ELTON and ST JAMES, WOOLFOLD in the town of Bury, and in the Diocese of Manchester.  We are here to serve and minister to the people of our area - from Brandlesholme to Woodhill and Elton, and the area around the Walshaw and Tottington Roads.

As churches serving our area, we want to be people who listen, people who reach out and people who celebrate, remember and invite others to share in the life of our Christian family and the wider community around us.   That means welcoming people into our churches and fellowship, and also going out into the community and meeting people where they are, looking for the ways God is at work in people's lives - and how we can join in.  We want to communicate well, to build stronger community and to engage people with our worship.

Welcome to worship!

Our friendly congregations meet regularly on Sundays for our main services.  We celebrate Holy Communion together every week at 8.15 and 9.30 at All Saints, and 11am at St James, and on the first Sunday of the month there is a Messy Church at 10am in our parish hall St Francis House for families, which is a wonderful time of activities, games, crafts, Bible stories and fun with a joyful message of God's love - ending with songs and a shared meal.  We also run all sorts of special services and events throughout the year from Mardi Gras to Easter to Harvest-tide and Christmas - and we love welcoming new people, because we appreciate how busy life can be and how hard it is to take on extra regular commitments.

Welcome to fellowship!

Our churches and parish halls are in regular use throughout the week for a whole range of activities bringing lots of people in - but our primary aim is always to share the love of Jesus with everyone, in any way we can.  We have home groups, Bible studies and Lent Courses, as well as a Walking Group, Men's and Ladies' Groups, Toddlers Play and Stay, Art and Craft, Knit and Natter, Afternoon Teas and our Church Choir, as well as a host of groups and organisations who use our buildings for their activities, from Karate Clubs and Brownies to Weight Watchers, a Samba band and several community groups...  though not all at the same time!

We'd love to hear from you if you would like to get in touch and find out more about us or about Jesus.  You're always welcome!
