St Mary's Longframlington
Although we cannot currently welcome you into our building, we do bid you a warm welcome to St Mary's, the parish church for the parish of Longframlington with Brinkburn. Our members continue to worship and pray regularly, both in a simple service streamed each Sunday and available through the following week, and in our own homes. This website has links to the services, to brief reflections from clergy and lay leaders, and to prayer resources. Please don't hesitate to contact us through the links in this website. As the Archbishops said when they made the difficult decision that churches should close their doors: closure "does not mean the Church of England has shut up shop - far from it."
Our active 21st century congregation has a Grade 1 listed church building dating back over 800 years, with a modern Community Room attached. In normal times, the Community Room provides a venue for a wide variety of church and village activities for all ages, including chat over coffee after the Sunday services. Visitors and newcomers to the village find a warm welcome at St Mary's, and the regular congregation includes both Northumbrians and those who have moved to the area to work or to retire. Normal services follow the Common Worship pattern, while the streamed services during the pandemic are rather more informal. Our worship includes both traditional and modern hymns and worship songs, and when we are in the church building they are normally accompanied on a modern organ with a traditional sound.
