St Mary's Longframlington

Welcome to St Mary's, the parish church for Longframlington with Brinkburn, with its Grade 1 listed church building, dating back over 800 years - and an active 21st century congregation, keen to share the love of God near and far. Behind the church is its adjoining 21st century Community Room, which is a great facility. Just like our village, St Mary's includes both Northumbrians and those who have moved to the area to work or to retire.

Our normal services are Holy Communion on Sunday mornings at 09:20, with a service of Evening Prayer on the first Sunday evening of each month, and Morning Prayer - also accessible on Zoom - each Wednesday morning at 09:30For those who feel unable to get to church at present we provide links to local and national online services, as well as some local recorded services.

We are conscious that the COVID virus is still active, so we ask that all worshippers continue to respect the personal space of others.  The House of Bishops COVID Recovery Group reminds us: "Within the Church we believe that everyone is known and loved individually by God and that as many members within one body we are called to be responsible to and for one another, respecting the more vulnerable whose suffering is our suffering" (1 Cor 12:12-27)

In addition to our formal services the church is available to individuals for private prayer and reflection every weekday, while as part of the Church of England we provide on this site links to the Daily Hope freephone prayer line and to a variety of resources to help us to pray.

We currently have no vicar or priest in charge, but we are well served by local retired clergy, and we continue to worship regularly.  Pastoral care can be accessed by contacting us via the "Get in Touch" page from this website or emailing [email protected]

Whether you visit the building for a service or to pray in private, join one of our on-site or online services, or merely stop a while, we bid you a very warm welcome. We’d love to meet you and get to know you! Please feel free to explore this website and our church building. And do get in touch to ask any questions - however profound or trivial!

We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO), Jane Kartupelis. For more information see the Safeguarding at St Mary's page.

The Diocese of Newcastle’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA), Carol Butler, who advises our PSO. Note that the service may follow the order given in Common Worship or may follow an order based on a Celtic tradition, either Northumbrian or from Iona.
