Meet in St Stephen's to experience this short daily church ritual together.

The Order for Morning Prayer includes:
* Scripture Sentences: A selection of biblical passages, usually from the Psalms or Prophets, read aloud by the Minister.
* Prayers: A series of prayers, including: The Apostles’ Creed, a statement of Christian faith.
* Three Collects (prayers):
The First Collect is a general prayer for the day.
The Second Collect is for peace and protection.
The Third Collect is for guidance and righteousness.
* A Prayer of Saint Chrysostom: A prayer asking for God’s guidance and blessing for the day’s activities.
* Benediction: A closing blessing

Regular Sunday morning Eucharist
includes choir/congregational singing

Typically Junior Church runs alongside this service during term time & run a Summer Challenge during the main holidays when toys, books, paper and pens will be available in the children's corner at the front of church. See the Families page for current information or sign up to the Junior Church mailing list to be kept informed of full details. - Children of all ages are welcome in all our services.

The service is followed by the opportunity to chat over free tea/coffee & a biscuit.

Weekly Said Eucharist every Tuesday morning with short homily and refreshments served afterwards.
On the 1st Tuesday of the month this service is a traditional service according to the Book of Common Prayer.

Short quiet service with no music but with familiar words and a sermon.

Service of the word - First Sunday of the month (except school holidays).
A more relaxed service with additional worshipper involvement . - Welcoming all ages.
Toys, books, paper and pens will be available in the children's corner at the front of church.
The service is followed by the opportunity to chat over free tea/coffee & a biscuit.

Enjoy a cooked two course meal during this sociable event. You don't need to be a regular church goer. Any one living in the area and looking for company is welcome. Cost £8 - Full list of dates for 2026 in the attachment.

Parish lunches usually take place on the second Thursday of the month served at 12.30pm. Please arrive from 12:00 for 12:30pm start.

You must pre-book your place via our Parish Administrator - Samantha, either by email at [email protected] or via telephone (general office hours: Mon-Thu 3-5pm). When booking, please provide the names of all parties in your booking request, include a contact number/email for queries and notify any dietary requirements.

Numbers are limited to 40 people and the booking deadline is usually Wednesday of the week before the lunch (ie 8 days before).

The annual meeting will take place as part of the main service today including elections to fill PCC vacancies as advertised below. The yearbook summarising activities in our parish during the calendar year 2025 will be shared in advance.

PCC Vacancies: We are prayerfully seeking another Church Warden and deputy warden to share the warden’s responsibilities, as well as new Deanery Synod representatives who keep us connected with the wider church. If you are interested in what these roles involve, speak to Revd. Abbie, Becky or Suzanne.

Following the Annual Meeting everyone is invite to join in with a simple Thank You lunch to recognise all the great work that's taken place in our parish over the past year.

Come and join us on this walk visiting churches across the Huddersfield Deanery. It's a great way to connect with others in our area and see different churches. We will stop to pray at each of the churches and stop for refreshments at some of them.

You are welcome to join on any day and for as many (or few) stops as you like. Walk distances range from 3.5 to 5.4 miles per day with some off-road walking on some of the days. The attachment gives an overview of the churches visited on each day and the approximate timings & cumulative mileage per day.

The prayer walk is led by Father Simon Crook (vicar of St Mark's, Longwood & St John's Golcar).
