The main Sunday service is at 11am On the 1st Sunday of the month this is an all age non-communion service Other Sundays, services will include communion and, during term-time, children aged 3-10 are invited to join the Junior Church during the service. When there is a 5th Sunday in the month, there will be a shared service at 10.30am, alternating venue between St Stephen's and St Philip's. The service on 29 November 2026 at St Stephen's. Our midweek communion service at 10am on Tuesdays with refreshments served afterwards. Other services as advertised on this page.

Morning Prayer in Church

Meet in St Stephen's to experience this short daily church ritual together.

The Order for Morning Prayer includes:
* Scripture Sentences: A selection of biblical passages, usually from the Psalms or Prophets, read aloud by the Minister.
* Prayers: A series of prayers, including: The Apostles’ Creed, a statement of Christian faith.
* Three Collects (prayers):
The First Collect is a general prayer for the day.
The Second Collect is for peace and protection.
The Third Collect is for guidance and righteousness.
* A Prayer of Saint Chrysostom: A prayer asking for God’s guidance and blessing for the day’s activities.
* Benediction: A closing blessing

Typically there will be no Morning Prayer during school holidays.

Enjoy a cooked two course meal during this sociable event. You don't need to be a regular church goer. Any one living in the area and looking for company is welcome. Cost £8 - Full list of dates for 2026 in the attachment.

Parish lunches usually take place on the second Thursday of the month served at 12.30pm. Please arrive from 12:00 for 12:30pm start.

You must pre-book your place via our Parish Administrator - Samantha, either by email at [email protected] or via telephone (general office hours: Mon-Thu 3-5pm). When booking, please provide the names of all parties in your booking request, include a contact number/email for queries and notify any dietary requirements.

Numbers are limited to 40 people and the booking deadline is usually Wednesday of the week before the lunch (ie 8 days before).

Christmas Tree Festival

St Stephen’s is proud to announce our 2nd Christmas Tree Festival.
Help us fill the church with the sight and scent of almost 20 real, lit and decorated Christmas trees, for hundreds of community members to enjoy.
Sponsor and decorate a tree to promote your organisation or business, honour the memory of a loved one or just as an excuse to get festive! We can promote you on social media.
Sponsor a non-drop tree with a log stand and lights. 4ft for just £70 or a 6ft tree for £100.
The trees are allocated for decoration on a first-come, first-served basis on Wednesday 2nd December from 10am - 1pm or 4-7pm or on Thursday 3rd December from 1-4pm.
4ft trees may stand on top of the pews for a greater effect.
The festival is open to the public from 3-6pm on Friday 4 December and from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 5 December.
They will then be rearranged and provide the backdrop to our annual Gift Service on Sunday 6 December at 11am and to our festival concert by Lindley Band at 2pm, for which tickets will be available shortly.
After the festival, you can collect your decorated tree, to enjoy over Christmas, on Monday 7th December.
