After a long period of anticipation and excitement the new statue of Saint Paul has finally arrived and was blessed recently by the Bishop of Wakefield , Malcom Chamberlain. The statue which has been created for us by a fabulous local sculptor, John Nyland now takes pride of place along with our fabulous statue of the Virgin Mary, which was sculpted several years ago by another local sculptor. Saint Paul is (as is traditional in Christian iconography) depicted holding a book and a sword demonstrating the two aspects of his life.
